Student Government Association (SGA)
The Student Government Association (SGA) of Adelphi University exists to promote the general welfare of the undergraduate student body and of the University as a whole, to develop general and specific policies for governing the undergraduate student body and organizations, and to provide student input to the Administration on past and future University policies.
It is responsible for representing and uniting the members of the undergraduate student body of Adelphi University for the purpose of protecting and promoting student interests.
For this purpose, the Student Government Association shall act on behalf of the undergraduate student body through communication with the administration, staff and faculty on matters of student concern. We the undergraduate students of Adelphi University, in order to secure the rights of all undergraduate students and maintain the highest standard of student life, do hereby adopt and establish the Constitution of the Student Government Association of Adelphi University.
The members of the Executive Cabinet of the Student Government Association (SGA) are responsible for oversight of some of the most crucial components of SGA’s mission. In conjunction with the Student Senate, the members of the Executive Cabinet plan and implement major initiatives and ensure that our duty to support the student body is being properly fulfilled.

Jillian Hershman ’20
Jill Hershman is a Senior Psychology major in the STEP program for childhood education. This is her second year serving as President, and her fourth year in SGA. In the past, she’s served on the Executive Cabinet as the Vice President of Administration and as a Senator. She’s also the Senior Resident Assistant in Earle Hall, a Senior Ambassador in the Office of Admissions, and a member of Greek life.
Mark Edelstein, ’21

Music Education Major
Mark Edelstein is a junior Music Education Major. At Adelphi, Mark is an active member in various clubs and organizations around campus such as the NAfME Association for Music Educators, the Arts District in Earle Hall, and Delta Chi Fraternity. He is also a student worker in the music department. He recently served as SGA’s Public Relations Coordinator for 2018-2019.
Alexandra Harris, ’20
Vice President of External Affairs
Political Science Major
Alex Harris is a senior political science major from Staten Island, NY. She has previously served as Senator for SGA, and most recently this past year as Executive Secretary. Other areas of her involvement on campus include being a Resident Assistant, and an Admissions Ambassador in the Office of Admissions. She is also a member of Phi Mu Fraternity.
Maria Paradiso, ’22
Maria Paradiso is a sophomore Mathematics major in the STEP program. As Treasurer this is her second year in SGA. In the past, she’s served as senator. She’s also a student worker in the Office of Admissions and a member of Delta Gamma.
Anastasia Dakis, ’22
Molecular Neuroscience Major
Anastasia Dakis is a sophomore Molecular Neuroscience Major and art minor. This is her second year in SGA. She served as a senator last year, and will be this years’ Secretary. She is a Resident Assistant in Chapman Hall, as well as a member of Delta Phi Epsilon.
Francine Nastasi, ’22
Francine Nastasi is a sophomore marketing major. She has served previously on SGA as a Senator. Francine is also a member of the Adelphi’s Women’s Swimming and Diving Team, Marketing Management Society, a student worker in the Office of Admissions and a 2019 Orientation Leader.
Nicole Basilan, ’22
Nicole Basilan is a sophomore Neuroscience major in the Honors College. As the Public Relations Officer, this is her second year in SGA. In the past, she’s served as A Senator. She’s also the Public Relations Officer for the Global Medical Brigades, a student worker in the Office of Admissions, Coffeehouse Chair for the Student Activities Board, and a member of Phi Mu Fraternity.
