Outstanding First-Year Student Award

The Outstanding First-Year Student Award honors an undergraduate first-year student who has demonstrated:

  • Academic excellence
  • Community/Campus involvement
  • Strong leadership

Based on the above criteria, the Committee selects several finalists to be interviewed. The winner receives a plaque and a gift certificate to our University bookstore. The winner will speak at Matriculation Day which occurs right before the beginning of the fall semester.

Instructions on how to nominate a student for this award are disseminated at the beginning of the spring semester.

First-Year Community Reads Award

The First-Year Community Reads Award honors an undergraduate first-year student with an outstanding response to the AU Reads selection. The winner receives a gift certificate to the University bookstore.

Instructions on how to apply for this award are disseminated to first-year students before the start of the fall semester.
