Levermore Global Scholars Affinity Group

Mission & Goals

The mission of the Levermore Global Scholars Affinity Group is to develop a strong alumni community for the graduates of the LGS Program at Adelphi University. The goals of the group include supporting the career and professional development of current Levermore Global Scholars, assisting faculty and administrators to further development of curriculum and service-based learning and developing a network of dedicated Levermore Global Scholars alum who support the program on an ongoing and continued basis

Multicultural Alumni Chapter

Mission & Goals

Founded in October 2003, the Adelphi University Multicultural Chapter (MCC) was established to recognize, embrace and celebrate diversity. Today, the Chapter leads the effort in advancing the University’s diversity goals including student mentorship, scholarship, and professional development. The focus of the group is to further Adelphi University’s commitment to diversity, serve as a vehicle for continued relationships and networking opportunities and support financial scholarships that celebrate diversity

Scholarships

Adelphi University is devoted to making sure everyone here, students, faculty and staff, are welcomed, heard and supported in every way to succeed in the classroom, their careers and communities. Help support scholarships for our students including:

  • The Helen Holmes Taylor ’49 Scholarship in Nursing supports undergraduate nursing students with financial need and a spirit of fortitude.
  • Excellence in Math & Sciences Scholarship is committed to promoting leading females in the disciplines of math and science with a pioneering spirit.
  • The Frances R. (“Fannie Mae”) Strachan Award helps freshman with financial need, activism/community involvement and overcame a challenge.
  • W.E.B. DuBois Scholarship supports students with a minor in African, Black and Caribbean Studies, demonstrated leadership and activism involvement.
  • The Adelphi 7 Sisters Endowed Scholarship Fund is dedicated to those committed to promoting females in the workforce with financial need.
  • The Della Hudson-Tomlin Scholarship, established in 2001 by Adelphi students for their long-time administrator and club adviser, supports full-time undergraduates with special need.
  • The One Hundred Black Men Endowed Scholarship began in 1985 by 100 Black Men of Nassau/Suffolk to assist junior or senior business students of African heritage from Nassau or Suffolk counties.
  • The Multicultural Excellence Fund allows the university to direct funding to the multicultural programming across campus where it is needed most.

Mission & Goals

The mission of the Master of Public Health Affinity Group is to develop a strong and resourceful alumni community for the graduates of the MPH program at Adelphi University’s College of Nursing and Public Health. The goals of Adelphi University’s Affinity Group include to create unique internship and/or employment opportunities for current students, to foster closer relations to Adelphi University and the Public Health Program and to establish a professional social group that will cultivate repertoire between current students and alumni.

WBAU Affinity Group

Mission & Goals

The alumni and friends of WBAU 90.3 are joining forces with the University to celebrate, preserve and build upon the long and illustrious history of radio at Adelphi. The goals of the Affinity Group are to Support current students in their efforts to maintain and promote an internet radio station, further Adelphi University’s commitment to broadcast communications, Foster relationships that provide networking opportunities for students and alumni, and Contribute historical information and artifacts to the University’s archives.
